Writing
In our Literacy lessons we are exploring 'The Princess and the Pea' by Lauren Child. We are developing our skills in writing exciting and engaging narratives and developing our skills in using inverted commas and expanded noun phrases.

Reading
For the next couple of weeks, we are exploring an extract from 'My Brother is a Superhero' by David Solomons. We are practising our reading fluency skills and exploring the meaning of new words in context so that we can make sense of what we read. We are developing our retrieval skills with independence and developing our inference and explanations with some support.

Maths
In maths, we are developing our understanding of place value with numbers up to 4-digits.

Religious Education
We are exploring 'Creation and Covenant'.
Science
Our science topic this half-term is all about 'Living things and their habitats'. We will be exploring how animals can be grouped and using classification keys to sort groups of animals.

History
Our topic this half-term is all about the Aztecs. We will be learning about who they were, when and where they lived and historical events and people from the Aztec times.
PE
Children have gymnastics every Thursday with coach Danny and they will have swimming lessons this term too. Please see the newsletter for more information about this.
Reading
Children should be reading for at least 15 minutes per day. Please, record your child's reading homework in their reading diary. These will be checked daily.
Timetables/Arithmetic
Children should be learning their timetables for at least 10 minutes per day on Times Tables Rock Stars.
Spelling
Children should be practising their spellings for at least 10 minutes per day on Spelling Frame. Children should complete their online spelling test on Tuesday or Wednesday ready for their test on Thursday morning.
*Children will be tested on their spelling and times tables every Thursday. They will take their test books home every Friday to share their achievements with parents. Please ensure they are brought back into school on Monday morning.*
Weekly homework
Children will receive a piece of homework based on reading, SPAG or maths on weekly basis. This will be given out on Mondays and should be returned to school on Thursday morning. This homework should take around 20 minutes to complete.
We have writing, reading and maths lessons every morning through the week. In the afternoons we have science, RE, art, geography, music, RSE and PE lessons.
Monday- Homework will be given out.
Thursday- Homework is due in, spelling and timetables test, PE with coach Danny, music with Mrs Allen.
Friday- Praise assembly.
