SEND - Special Educational Needs & Disabilities

SEND at St Saviour's

At St Saviour’s we are committed to giving all children in our care the best possible experience of school. We believe that God made each child to be exactly who they are, and that every child is made in the image and likeness of God with gifts and talents to share. Our role to support all children to achieve, develop and grow to be the best person they can be, just as God created them. We have high ambitions for every child. We cherish each child as an individual and recognise that every child will have a unique journey. For children with additional needs, we offer bespoke support through our policies, practices and procedures.

We provide a caring, nurturing environment which enables all children to flourish as learners and achieve their best. We aim to ensure that every child with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) is identified and provided for as early as possible through working closely with parents, carers and outside agencies. Through Quality First Teaching and targeted adult support, children are able to learn in the classroom alongside their peers. Interventions to address specific needs takes place in small groups or on a one to one basis and provision is frequently reviewed to ensure progress.

What to do if you are concerned about your child.

If you are worried about your child in anyway, please make an appointment with the class teacher to discuss your concern. We always have an 'open door' policy and aim to help in any way possible.

Should the class teacher need advice on matters raised, they will speak to the SENDco. A meeting between the class teacher, SENDco and yourself may be arranged to discuss further actions.

What is the Local Offer?

Local Authorities and schools are required to publish and keep under review information about services they expect to be available for the children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) aged 0-25. This is the ‘Local Offer’. It’s where you will find information and services in one place. There are details of services that are available within the local area and how to access them as well as services that are not in our area but that you may also be able to access. You can find more information on this in our SEND Information Report below.
